Sermon Notes

““The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets. For God is not a God of
disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.”

(1 Corinthians 14:32–33, NIV)

“Remember that people who prophesy are in control of their spirit and can take turns.
For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the meetings of God’s holy people.”

(1 Corinthians 14:32–33, NLT)

“…and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”
(1 Corinthians 14:32–33, NASB95)

THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

  1. These are all valuable gifts from the Holy Spirit: A word of Wisdom, A word of
knowledge, speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy – healing,
    discernment, miraculous signs.
  2. It is God’s desire that the entire body of Christ be edified through the gifts of the Holy
    Spirit.
  3. It is God’s desire that the body of Christ be exhorted and consoled through the gifts
    of the Holy Spirit.
  4. The Spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet.
  5. God is not a God of disorder or confusion. A psalm, a teaching, a revelation, a
tongue, an interpretation all in their order.
  6. It is God’s desire that we seek the gifts of the Spirit that edify the entire body.

THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT. (PROMISED!)

  1. The Spirit of Truth or counselor is prophesied by Jesus in the gospel of John 14-16
(He identifies who the Spirit is and will be.
  2. Prophesied by John the Baptist. I baptize with water. However, after me comes the
one who will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. (John was filled with the Holy Spirit from
birth. Jesus was recognized with the Holy Spirit from baptism.)
  3. The Spirit comes from the Father.
  4. Jesus Christ is the one who will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.
  5. After the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will receive power to be my witnesses.
  6. On Pentecost was poured out on 120 praying people. Jesus baptized them.
  7. Peter, in Acts 4:8, full of the Holy Spirit preached a message. (This gift promised to
    Jews and Gentiles.)
  8. In Acts 4:31 all the disciples were praying together for boldness… and the room
where they were was shaken, they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they went
out and proclaimed the word of God boldly.
  9. A gentile family (Roman) was baptized with the Holy Spirit with the same signs.
  10. Stephen was a man full of the Holy Spirit and Faith. Preached/confronted.
  11. Barnabas was a man full of the Holy Spirit and Faith. Taught/encouraged.
  12. Paul filled with the Holy Spirit confronted evil.
  13. Believers in Ephesus 19 years after the Day of Pentecost received the same
baptism in the Holy Spirit with the same evidence.

THE BAPTISM AND THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT HERE AT LIFESPRING.

  1. I believe we can all admit that we desire more of God’s presence in our services and
    lives.
  2. We must pray that all of our people would receive the promised baptism in the Holy Spirit. (Because it is promised to all. Pray until the building is shaken.)
  3. You who are full of the Holy Spirit must be available for prayer, healing, miraculous signs, a prophetic word, discernment, tongues, interpretation…God did not fill you with His Holy Spirit to sit in a pew.
  4. Be ready in the sanctuary, the foyer, the parking lot, in our cars…
  5. Prophetic note—tongues—interpretation—call to intercession—discernment—prayer for healing—call to be filled with the Holy Spirit. (All this in the same body of Christians.)
  6. The Spirit of God determined what gifts needed to be deployed.
  7. Those seeking must relax (Don’t be impatient!) and allow Jesus the moment to baptize us. The prophetic word given two weeks ago was, “Wait, don’t rush.”
  8. Repent and be baptized and then you will receive the gift of the Spirit.
  9. It was this way throughout all the churches that Paul led.”
