WORSHIP

1. WORSHIP IS HONORING GOD WITH OUR ATTENTION, OUR ADORATION, OUR GIFTS, OUR OBEDIENCE, OUR DECISIONS, EVEN OUR FEAR OF GOD (RESPECT).

2. THE PSALMIST TEACHES US TO BEAR OUR HEARTS BEFORE GOD. SHOUT, SING, LOVE, LIFT HIS NAME, PRAISE HIM… HUMBLE YOURSELF, CRY OUT, CRY TEARS, FALL BEFORE HIM…

3. THE DEVIL TEMPTED JESUS TO WORSHIP OTHER THINGS WE MUST ONLY WORSHIP GOD.

4. JESUS SAYS, WE MUST WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH. NO MOUNTAIN, NO LITURGY, NO ROBE, NO CHURCH BUILDING, CAN REPLACE A GENUINE DESIRE TO LOVE GOD.

PREACHING

1. PREACHING IS USING OUR WORDS TO INTERPRET, ORGANIZE, AND EXPORT FROM SCRIPTURE. FOR THE NON-BELIEVER AND THE BELIEVER, THE GOOD NEWS OF REDEMPTION IS OUR PRIMARY SOURCE OF PREACHING.

2. JESUS COMMANDS HIS DISCIPLES TO PREACH THE GOOD NEWS.

3. THE WORDS OF GOD ARE SO IMPORTANT THAT JESUS IDENTIFIES HIMSELF AS O LOGOS…THE WORD.

4. THE PREACHED GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD TO SAVE.

5. THE ORIGIN OF FAITH IS FOUND IN THE PREACHED WORD OF GOD.

6. GOD CHOSE THE FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING AS THE INSTRUMENT TO DELIVER THE GOSPEL.

7. PAUL COMMANDS TIMOTHY TO PREACH THE WORD!

8. THE GREAT COMMISSION: JESUS COMMANDS HIS DISCIPLES TO GO INTO ALL THE WORLD AND PREACH THE GOSPEL.

WORSHIP
Exodus 34:14 (NKJV)
14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God),

GOD ALONE IS TO BE WORSHIPED.
Matthew 4:10 (NKJV)
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

THOUGH TEMPTED TO WORSHIP OTHER THINGS WE MUST ONLY WORSHIP GOD.
John 4:21–24 (NKJV)
21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

WE MUST WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH.

PREACHING
John 1:1 (NKJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

THE PREACHED GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD TO SAVE.
Romans 10:15–17 (NKJV)
15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “LORD, who has believed our report?”
17 So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

THE ORIGIN OF FAITH IS THE WORD OF GOD.
1 Corinthians 1:20–22 (NKJV)
20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

GOD CHOSE PREACHING AS THE INSTRUMENT TO DELIVER THE GOSPEL.
