Philippians 4:4–9 (NIV)

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

⁵ Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

⁶ Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

⁷ And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

⁸ Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

⁹ Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

PAUL’S EXPERIENCE AT PHILIPPI

• The Spirit says no to Asia, a vision directs them to Macedonia.

• Lydia was saved at a prayer meeting by the river.

• Paul delivered a demon-possessed girl who followed them.

• After a flogging they had a worship service in jail.

• Paul was delivered from chains by an earthquake.

• The Warden and his family are saved from punishment and sin.

PAUL ADVISES THE PHILIPPIAN CHURCH

REJOICE ALWAYS

1. Rejoice when the Spirit leads. (Macedonia here we come.)
2. Rejoice despite false accusations. (You ruined my livelihood.)
3. Rejoice in the salvation of sinners. (Lydia and the Warden)
4. Rejoice despite difficult accommodations. (Worship service)
5. Rejoice in the wonderful blessings from the Lord.
6. Have a worship service in the dark moments.

1. Live in a way that honors God.
2. Being gentle with people honors God.
3. Being joyful in all circumstances honors God.
4. Being at peace when others are not, honors God.

1. Present your requests to God. Pray.
2. Don’t waste time worrying about things you cannot change.
3. In every situation and with thankfulness (appreciate God)

1. Having peace even when you have reason for chaos.
2. We need a guard who watches over our mind and heart.
3. Our thought life is kept by excellent, praiseworthy thinking
4. The God of peace is with you everywhere he sends you.
