Sermon Notes

SCRIPTURE: JOHN 3:16, MATTHEW 6:9-13, JOHN 6:38-40, ROMANS 5:8

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16, NIV)

This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.”
(Matthew 6:9–13, NIV)

“For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
(John 6:38–40, NIV)

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:8, NIV)

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
(1 John 4:9–10, NIV)

The Father loves His creation.

  1. God loves you more than anyone.
  2. God’s love for us is expressed in many different ways (blessings, discipline, etc.)
  3. The foundation of God’s words come from a deep love: AGAPE
  4. God knows the love of a Father and Son.
  5. God loved us before we became good.

Jesus gives us a peak into heaven.

  1. Let’s do things the way things are done in heaven.
  2. The foundation to Kingdom work is His love for you.
  3. The Father’s will is at the center of my thoughts and day.
  4. My most meaningful work is doing what the FATHER wants.

What does the Father want for His creation?

  1. He wants you to know He loves you.
  2. He wants you to believe in Jesus.
  3. He wants you to have eternal life.
  4. His humility and sacrifice are his proof to us.
  5. God took the initiative by loving us first… but wants us to freely choose Him without any mental reservation.
  6. He wants us to walk away from the rebellion that hurts Him.
  7. The foundation of the Good News of the Kingdom is that God wants to reconcile with humanity.
