Your patience has been rewarded. My nerves are shot but, ladies and gentlemen, we have a podcast!
The winner of last week’s giveaway is…
Anthony! His idea for the show was to have one of the leaders of the Lifespring church sit in with me and the two of us take calls. Great idea! Anthony will receive Mark Steven Brocke’s CD, “Completed”.
Congratulations, Anthony!
Here’s how we will do the show:
First, here’s the link for Skype. If you would like to participate in the next “Lifespring!” podcast, you’ll need to download and install Skype.
To call in, you’ll need a microphone on your computer and it’s really good if you have headphones, too, so you can turn off your speakers.
If you don’t have a microphone but would still like to participate, Skype has a “chat” function, too. We’ll take those questions, too.
My Skype ID is “lifespring_podcast”.
I’ll have my brother-in-law, Steve O’Brien, who is the associate pastor at the church, and a chaplain with the Air Force Reserves, with me to take your calls about life situations, and questions on religion.
We will begin recording this next podcast at 7:00 pm Pacific Daylight Time on May 2, 2005.
Luke 13:22-27 (NIV)
22Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. 23Someone asked him, ?Lord, are only a few people going to be saved??
He said to them, 24?Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ?Sir, open the door for us.?
?But he will answer, ?I don?t know you or where you come from.?
26?Then you will say, ?We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.?
27?But he will reply, ?I don?t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!?
Psa. 24:3-4 (NIV)
3 Who may ascend the hill of the LORD?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to an idol
or swear by what is false.
Matt. 5:21-22 (NIV)
21?You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ?Do not murder,? and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.? 22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother? will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ?Raca,? is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ?You fool!? will be in danger of the fire of hell.
Matt. 5:27-28 (NIV)
27?You have heard that it was said, ?Do not commit adultery.? 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
John 10:7 (NIV)
7Therefore Jesus said again, ?I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.
John 14:6 (NIV)
6Jesus answered, ?I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:23 (NIV)
23Jesus replied, ?If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
John 10:10 (NIV)
10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Despite everything, I am uploading the new “Lifespring!” as I make this entry. The time is 6:52 pm, so it’s almost 24 hours late. Many, many roadblocks today, but your new podcast is on the way!
Well, Murphy has certainly had his way tonight! As most of you know, I record the podcast at my church. What you may not know is that I burn the resulting .wav file to a CD and take it home to do “post production” on it before uploading it to my server.
Well, tonight I needed to get home quickly and I did not check to be sure I got a “good burn” on the CD like I usually do. Well, wouldn’t you know it, I didn’t burn a useable CD and ended up with a “coaster”. The disc is no good.
So, it being late and me being the only parent at home right now, I’m not going to be able to make the sixteen mile round trip to the church to re-burn a new copy. I’ll have to do it tomorrow (Tuesday), so you’ll probably get this podcast about twelve hours later than normal. Sorry.
To make it up to you, I’m posting two pictures here. You’ll have to listen to the podcast for an explanation!
This is a long one, but I think you’ll enjoy it. A lot of news and a lot of information.
Your podcatching software must look at our new rss address: http://lifespringonline.com/rss.xml
Lots of things happening the last few days. The local newspaper published the article they started working on several weeks ago. Here’s the link.
If you’re here because of the Press Enterprise article, we welcome you. If you would like information on church services, just click on the “Ministries” button at the top of this page.
Music: Mark Steven Brocke “Ditty for Doyle” and others from his album “Completed”; Betsy Walker with “Dear Afterthought”
Scriptures:
Titus 3:3 through Titus 3:8 (NIV)
3At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
Talked about the voting at PodcastAlley. Please see the article below entitled “A Little Help From My Friends, Please”.
Getting the Word out is the reason for the Lifespring! podcast. The more people that hear the podcast, the more that may understand that the way to peace with God and others is through Jesus Christ.
Having links in as many places as possible is one great way for people to discover Lifespring!
Another way is for Lifespring! to be as visible as possible at PodcastAlley.com. I know from the log files of this website (lifespringonline.com) that the referrals from PodcastAlley are down precipitously since we’ve dropped off their Top 50 list.
I also know how many times per week Lifespring! is downloaded. Based on that number, I know that it would be easy, easy, easy to shoot right back up the chart if just a small percentage of you would cast a vote today. Since you don’t know which others will vote and which ones won’t, I need you to be one of the voters. Please don’t be one of the majority who leave it to someone else.
If you believe that the message of the Lifespring! podcast is worth hearing, and if you think others could benefit from that message, could I ask you to please click here, and then cast a vote?
Remember, voting is done each month at PodcastAlley.com. It’s okay to vote more than once, as long as you only vote once per month.
Also, they look at the IP address when you vote so there’s no cheating. That’s a good thing, unless you are on a network and there is more than one person who wants to vote. In that case, only one person per month can vote per IP address. What you’ll have to do is remember to vote at another computer, or on another IP address if someone else on your network has already voted.
As of right now, we need 55 votes to put us safely into the middle of the Top 50 list. That will give Lifespring! good visibility for new people to find our podcast. Fifty-five is a very small percentage of all those who listen. I need you to do your part. Please vote here.
Oh, one more thing. Tell your friends about Lifespring! One suggestion is to send an email to everyone on your contacts list. Write a few lines about what you like about Lifespring! in your own words, include a link to http://lifespringpodcast.com and let them hear about the One who loves them unconditionally and who gave His life for them!
What a fun day it was, and a fun podcast resulted because of it! I received a box today filled with CDs and DVD/CD sets from Jimmie Bratcher, a good friend of the Lifespring! podcast.
We’re having a little “give-away” with those gifts from Jimmie!
You’ll have to listen to the podcast for the details.
I played Jimmie’s song “Hey Hey” from the “Live” CD and a snippet of “Doctor Doctor”.
I also played wahba’s “Jesus Lead On”, and told you about his custom cellular phone ringtones. Get datails at his website.
Read my response to a listener (Anthony) who was looking for some kind of proof that God is real. Gave him some reasons and suggested he read either “Evidence That Demans A Verdict”, by Josh McDowell, or “Mere Christianity”, by C.S. Lewis.
Discussed in a little more detail some scientific reasons why God must exist. Much of the material is from DoesGodExist.org. Thanks to John Clayton from that website for giving his permission to share it with you!
Asked a quesion: Do you like the length of the show the way it is, or would you like a 15-20 minute show. You like music, or just talking, or both? Send me an email to let me know!

I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,? declares the LORD, ?and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.?

your right hand will hold me fast.
