Podcasting's Original Christian All-Podcast Podcast. Since November 13, 2004.
Jesus said, "Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life,"
and, "Who do you say that I am?" Here, there's music, conversation, and reasons to believe. "Lifespring!" is a weekly show produced since November 2004, by southern Californian, Steve Webb, with global appeal for its positive spiritual message and original format, which includes music from independent artists, personal insights and recollections as well as compelling interviews. Show host Steve Webb is widely regarded as an early influencer in podcasting production, creating cutting-edge productions that surprise and captivate the first-time listener.
"As a pioneer in religious podcasts, Steve has created a benchmark for those creating inspirational entertainment -- his show is so positive, personal and insightful that you forget any preconceptions that you had before listening," said Adam Curry, PodShow Co-Founder and President. "Steve's ability to mix serious spiritual questions with music and daily musings makes 'Lifespring!' unique -- it makes Steve stand out amongst his peers in podcasting."

Lifespring!189 "The State of Steve" TOLL FREE Comment Line +1(877)433-9091

Hosted by Steve Webb. This is going to be a different sort of Lifespring. I owe you an explanation for the long absence, and it’ll take a while to do that, so let’s call this episode of Lifespring the State of Steve Address. I promise to try not to bore you like some presidents do with their state of the union addresses, and I hope to even inspire you with a message of hope. So hang on!

HS53: Lifespring! HymnStories "Jesus Loves Me - Revisited" TOLL FREE Comment Line 1(877)433-9091

Hosted by Steve Webb. Lifespring! HymnStories tells the stories behind some of your favorite hymns. Today: Revisiting the story behind "Jesus Loves Me", perhaps the best known children's hymn of all time. The reason we're doing this is that, when I did it in HymnStories #2, I didn't have a version of the music with the lyrics that was cleared for play in a podcast. Now that more music is available, I felt it was time to bring it back.

Hosted by Steve Webb. Have you read J.I. Packer's book, "Knowing God"? I highly recommend it. Among other topics, today's show is based somewhat on this great book. Do you "know" God, or do you "know" God? Are you like the Hebrews in your knowledge of God, or like the Greeks? Listen to the show to have your concept (and mybe your viewpoint) of the knowledge of God challenged!

HS52: Lifespring! HymnStories "Away In A Manger" TOLL FREE Comment Line 1(877)433-9091

Hosted by Steve Webb. Lifespring! HymnStories tells the stories behind some of your favorite hymns. Today: Away In A Manger Was written in 1887, and is commonly known as "Luther's Cradle Hymn." But did the great German Reformer, Martin Luther, really write the words? Did he sing them by the cradle of his little son, Hans? Listen to the show for a possible answer. This hymn is beautifully performed by David Phelps, from his wonderful Christmas CD/DVD set "O Holy Night," which is available on our show notes page at LifespringMedia.com.

Lifespring!182 "And Now For Some GOOD News!"

Hosted by Steve Webb. Folks, as I record this, we are two weeks away from Christmas, and I really feel like we need to be encouraged. We need to hear from God. Let's face it, as we listen to the news, or read the paper, or scan through our RSS subscriptions, the world is in pretty bad shape. The economy, pretty much world wide, is in a decline. Just last month, over a half million people in the U.S. lost their jobs. The U.S. government is shoveling billions and billions of taxpayer dollars...your money and mine...into failing companies, with doubtful benefit to you and me. 401k account balances are in the tank. Thankfully, gasoline prices are lower than they have been in years, but do you think that's going to last? Personally, I don't. I could go on, but that's not what I want to talk about today. I want to encourage you. If your family is anything like mine, or millions of other families in this country, there will be fewer gifts under the tree this Christmas, because of the things I mentioned a few moments ago. Should we be sad because that? Should we be fearful because of the economy? Who is in control? To whom do we go for advice, for reassuring words, for strength, for courage? I think you know my answer. We go to the Lord. God is still on throne. He hasn't lost His job. He is not surprised by falling stock prices or the big three auto makers on the brink of bankruptcy. Jesus is still our salvation, our redeemer. The Holy Spirit is still our Comforter. Today, I want to look at several scriptures that remind us of what God has said. I'll be reading a lot of scripture today, and commenting a little. His words are much better than mine, and I just really think that we need to hear from God today, and not so much from Steve. I hope that's okay with you. Listen to the show to hear the what God has to say to lift our hearts.

Portuguese is the language of the day, and we see the similarities between Portugal's traditional Christmas celebrations and your host, Steve Webb's family celebration. Though there is no Portuguese or Brazilian heritage in the family, the way Christmas is celebrated has some striking resemblances!

Lifespring!181 "A Conversation With David Phelps"

Hosted by Steve Webb. Today you are going to hear some of the best music out there because I'm going to share a conversation I recently had with Mr. David Phelps. Perhaps best known for his 8 years with the Gaither Vocal Band, he's been solo since 2005, releasing five or so CDs since then. He has an amazing tenor voice, with a three octave range. His audiences have included George W. Bush, massive crowds at Billy Graham Crusades, four Dove Awards, two Grammy Awards, and over 13 gold and 15 platinum-selling projects. If you have never heard him, you are in for a treat today, and if are familiar with his work, I think you'll enjoy getting to know him better today. You'll hear some songs from his two newest projects, and he talks about his childhood, how he decided that he wanted to make singing his life's pursuit, how he met Jesus, and lots more.

Lifespring!180 "Celebrating Four Years, with Jesus Music Pioneer Chuck Girard"

Hosted by Steve Webb. Wow! As we celebrate four years, I guess it's somewhat apropos that, as the very first Christian podcast not based on repurposed church sermons, we have one of the fellows who was at ground zero of the beginning of Jesus Music...the precursor of Contemporary Christian Music. Chuck Girard was one of the founding members of the group, Love Song, which first started singing at Calvary Chapel Bible studies in Costa Mesa, California. This was at the very beginning of the Jesus People movement, which began at Calvary Chapel. Even before this time, however, Chuck was there during the early days of rock 'n' roll, recording with several bands, including The Castells and The Hondells. This interview is full of music clips and several full songs that you are sure to enjoy.

Hosted by Steve Webb. Wow. The economy is tough, isn’t it? Shayna asked me for my reaction to this blog post. The topic addressed in the post was how some people are giving up their houses in order to continue to pay their tithes. In this episode of Lifespring!, I give you my opinion, I believe based on Scripture, about tithing. Is tithing required, is it scriptural, will God be mad at you if you don’t tithe?

Lifespring!175 "Phil Keaggy: Working Class Guitar Player" TOLL FREE Comment Line 1(877)433-9091

Hosted by Steve Webb. Phil Keaggy is on the show today! I have got such a great show for you, and I can't wait to introduce one of today's great musicians to you. If you are not familiar with the music of Phil Keaggy, believe me, you are in for a treat. If you ARE familiar with him, you are in for a treat, too, because you are going to get to hear him in a way that you probably never have...because Phil and I had a chance to talk last week for over an hour, and you are going to get to know another dimension of this remarkably gifted man. During our conversation, we talked about many different musicians, and I have woven some clips of most of them into our conversation, so you're going to get to sample many different artists and genres today. Kind of an audio smorgasborg. I hope you like it, and I hope you'll give me feedback. Call me toll free at 877-433-9091, or email me at steve.lifespring@gmail.com.

HS50: Lifespring! HymnStories "Jesus, I Come" TOLL FREE Comment Line 1(877)433-9091

Hosted by Steve Webb. Lifespring! HymnStories tells the stories behind some of your favorite hymns. Today: One of the best histories of the gospel song era is George Stebbins' autobiography, Reminiscences and Gospel Hymn Stories. Stebbins was born in ht e mid-1880s in New York and showed early musical prowess. At age twenty-three, he moved to Chicago where he worked in churches and became acquainted with some of the "greats" of gospel music, such as Sankey and Bliss. In the late 1870s, D. L. Moody got hold of him, sending him into a lifetime of music evangelism. Listen to the show for Stebbins' account of the first time he and D. L. Moody ministered together, and how "Jesus, I Come" came to be written. An updated rendition of the hymn is beautifully performed by Scott Wesley Brown, who graciously granted his permission to use his song on today's show.

Lifespring!172 "World Premiere of 'Still Dancin'' With Bryan Duncan and the NehoSoul Band!" TOLL FREE Comment Line +1(877)433-9091

Hosted by Steve Webb. I cannot tell you how unbelievable excited i am to have this show for you today. What an incredible honor it is to be able to have you, the lifespring family, be the very first to hear Dove award winning, multi gold and platinum albums recipient, Contemporary Christian Music pioneer, survivor, my friend, my neighbor, and my brother in Christ, Bryan Duncan and his NehoSoul band's brand new, not yet even available in stores or online, brand new CD called "Still Dancin'" It's so new that mastering was just completed a day or two ago. My copy of teh CD is still warm, just out of the oven. Bryan came to my house just yesterday...I'm recording this on Tuesday morning, July 22, 2008, and spent a couple of hours with me talking about the album. We videotaped part of our conversation, so you'll want to keep an eye on Lifespring.TV, youtube, mevio, and other places over the next several days because I'm going to be releasing the video in chunks, and we recorded the audio that you are about to hear. I don't think this has ever been done...at least I've never heard anything like what you are about to hear...and I think you're really going to like the next 56 minutes. So let's get right to it...

Since this show is primarily downloaded from the internet, I'm going to make the assumption that most of you are fairly well internet savvy, and some of you are complete geeks, and you are connected nearly 24/7. What happens when you lose your internet connection? Do you experience withdrawal symptoms? Weight loss? Paranoia? Preoccupation?

Lifting up praises and prayers to God as a family: the Lifespring! family of believers. As we start this week, we have two very serious prayer requests: Suzanne, Robin’s wife, is facing surgery this coming Wednesday for a tumor. Eight years ago she had a very serious form of cancer. There have been several weather-related deaths in the past few days in the midwestern and southern parts of the United States. We pray for the families of the victims, and for God’s presence in the storms.

Lifespring!167 "O Is For Oprah" TOLL FREE Comment Line 1(877)433-9091

Hosted by Steve Webb. Hoo boy. She's all over the place. She's rich. She's famous. She's number two on the iTunes store's most popular podcast list, and number one in the religion category. And I've been getting lots of questions from listeners and family members and church members. What about this teaching that Oprah Winfrey is doing on this book, "A New Earth"? What about Oprah's religion? Oprah says she's a Christian, but is she really? Listen to the show for my answer, and lots more. Music on today's show is from Big Stuf and Sarah Bauer.

The worship service of the church that the host of the Lifespring! Family of Podcasts, Steve Webb, attends, LifeSpring,in Riverside, California. On today's show, we hear the second missionary we heard at LifeSpring Church during our missionary emphasis week. His name is Keith Heermann, and he is quite a dynamic speaker. He has been a friend of our church for years, even before his missionary years. He's a good man, and we were blessed to have him with us. I think you're really going to enjoy him.

Lifespring! Sunday 32 "Missions 1: Steve Webb"

The worship service of the church that the host of the Lifespring! Family of Podcasts, Steve Webb, attends, LifeSpring,in Riverside, California. For those who have been keeping up with the Lifespring! family on some of the other Lifespring! shows, you may know that our church just completed a week of missions emphasis. In eight days, we hosted i believe eight different missionaries and gave them a chance to tell us about their ministries. Some of their presentations were recorded, and over the next week or two, I'll share those recordings with you. What was very exciting for me is that my church invited me to tell them about what the Lifespring! Media family is all about. My church has decided to support Lifespring! Media as a missionary outreach, and i am so honored. On today's show, you will hear my presentation to the church, and then pastor Steve O'Brien. I have to apologize for the audio quality during my presentation. While I was speaking, I obviously was not able to monitor the recording, and there is an echo that you're going to hear. It's only for the 22 minutes that I spoke, but if it bothers you too much, you can fast forward to Steve O'Brien's message. Also, if you want to see the service, you can do so at Lifespring.TV.

Lifting up praises and prayers to God as a family: the Lifespring! family of believers. Praying for Rick, Joe, Barb, Ellen, Patti, Laura and her husband, and Alex's grandparents. Praising God for His work in the lives of Malcolm and Laurie, and for the healing that is taking place in the hearts of Brandy and Jeremy. Also, we play one of my favorite songs, which is really a prayer. The artist is wahba, the song is "Flame."

Lifespring!164 "The Man With The Golden Heart" or "From Korea With Love" TOLL FREE Comment Line 1(877)433-9091

Hosted by Steve Webb. “Welcome to Lifespring, 007. Today, we’re reviewing the successful extrication from South Korea, of a kidnapped child, whose own mother participated in the stealth operation. It’s a story of unknown informants, web 2.0 social networks, computer hacking, government conflicts…even dreams from God. Yes, 007, if you listen closely, you’ll learn of a mother’s despair, her tenacity, and a man with a mission.” Thus begins this very exciting episode of Lifespring! Listen to hear the story of how Mark Miller, founder of the American Association For Lost Children, with the help of Bazzel Baz, from the Association For The Recovery Of Children, along with Tiffany Rubin, mother of kidnapped Kobe Lee, rescued Kobe from South Korea, where his estranged father had taken him. It’s an amazing story, and you’ll not hear it anywhere like you hear it here on the Lifespring! show.

Lifespring!163 "How To Really Follow Jesus" TOLL FREE Comment Line +1(877)433-9091

Hosted by Steve Webb. We're blowing it, friends. "Outsiders" don't think very highly of us. According to the book "unChristian", we are looked upon with skepticism and suspicion. Ouch. Listen to the show for what I think might just be the first thing we need to do to change this sad state of affairs. It's an uplifting and positive message, despite the seriousness of the problem. Also, I talk about the crisis of Darfur. Today's music is from Shannon Quintana, Derek Webb, and Jay Wright.

Hosted by Steve Webb. Well guys, it's time for one of those conversations that some call "a heart to heart." This is a conversation that I’ve been thinking about for a long time, but didn’t quite know how to broach. And by the way, I’m talking primarily to those of you who have been with me for awhile. If this is your first time listening to the show, or if you’re new and still just checking out the Lifespring family, then you’re welcome to listen, obviously, but you’re not who I’m mainly addressing myself to...(Listen to the show for the entire message.) I also talk about Eliot Spitzer, Easter, and a Grandma's interesting take on the way some fairy tales begin.

ATA008: Lifespring! At The Altar TOLL FREE Prayer Request Line +1(877)433-9091

Lifting up praises and prayers to God as a family: the Lifespring! family of believers. Today we share some praises, as God is already seen working in the areas we have prayed about on At The Altar! Today, we pray for a brand new believer and for Brian, who has been part of the Lifespring! family since 2004 (!), and for his dad, who is going in for surgery. The praises are for how God has already begun to bless the missionaries from my son's church, and also for God's working in the seventeen year old boy we prayed about a couple of days ago. God is faithful to answer when we ask according to His will!
