ATA001: Lifespring! At The Altar

Welcome to the first episode of At the Altar. I've thought about doing a show like this for some time, and last week, my son Matt sent a prayer request to me and asked me to let other people know about the need.

The Lifespring family, you who listen to the other Lifespring shows, is made up of people from around the world. How cool would it be to share our needs with one another.

"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." James 5:16 [show] Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. (ESV)

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" Matthew 7:7-11 [show] "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! (ESV)

"Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:14-16 [show] Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (ESV)

At this point, I am planning to keep the show between 5 and 10 minutes a day, something that you can easily listen to on the drive to work, or as a part of your daily devotional time. My goal is to make this a nearly daily show. This will be good discipline for me, and maybe good for you, too.

Please, as you listen, participate in the prayer. We may not be gathered together in one place, or even at one time, since by nature this is a time-shifted medium. But if we agree together, then I believe that God will be in our midst. Matt. 18:20 [show] For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." (ESV)

: "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."

I encourage you to share your prayer requests and praises with the family. Send them to steve.lifespring@gmail.com, phone them in toll free at 877-433-9091, or go to the website at lifespringmedia.com and comment on the show notes page.

If you want me to withhold your name, just mention that when you send in your request. That's not a problem.

I believe that God is about to move in many lives here. And I believe that He will do that to bring glory to Himself. Therefore, I would ask that when you send a request in, and then God answers your prayer, please let us know. Send us a follow up. Let us praise God with you.

Today's prayer requests:

  • Brad writes: We've been waiting a very long time to hear how our home church will be supporting our ministry with Mission Aviation Fellowship, Learning Technologies. The elders will be voting on the proposal from the missions committee next Tuesday. Please pray that it is accepted and that it will be for at least 15% of our support need.
