An Interview With Adrina Thorpe
Adrina Thorpe is one of my favorite singer/songwriters. I’ve known her now for about six years. She has a sweet, clear voice and the heart of a poet. Her music first came to my attention in the early days of podcasting, and she was one of the early stars of this medium. I found out she lived not far from me, right here in southern California, so I asked her to come to the Lifespring! studios in December of 2005 and do an interview with me. Since that show aired, we’ve kept in touch over the via email.
Not too long ago, Adrina sent an email newsletter out to her fans in which she told a story that brought tears to my eyes. You see, Adrina has suffered for years with a condition that causes her a great deal of pain. In her letter, she talked about her faith in God, her pleading to Him for healing, and how He has spoken to her in response. It’s a story I thought you should hear.

I just so happened to come across this interview after listening to a friends interview that is posted on here (my husband and I have ministered together with Randy and Ellie Collins) I was just going to click off this website when I heard Steve say that this story was going to be about a young women who was dealing with pain and pleading for God to heal her. These words caught my attention and so I listened further. When the interview started and I heard Adrina say she was dealing with a pinched nerve problem, it really caught my attention! I have been dealing with a similar problem for about the past 3 months, and have been in excruciating pain that has altered my way of living, so bad that I can barely get up and walk a few feet without my left leg giving out on me! At times the pain can be so intense that I too have questioned if it was something I brought upon myself. I know this is not the truth but in that moment of weakness I sometimes can’t help but to feel as if this were the case.Just hearing the fact that Adrina was a christian that was dealing with the same crippling pain that I am experiencing now, gave me comfort knowing that there was someone who knew what I was going through and could relate to. I found Adrina’s story inspiring and funny at the same time, but mostly it encouraged me to continue to keep my faith in God, despite the pain. I can totally relate to Adrina when she was giving examples of all the times God had to confirm and re-confirm His promise of healing to her through various scriptures and signs. I too can be a doubting Thomas when trying to hold on tight to a word of God, that He will heal me. As I continue waiting for this healing to manifest in my body I just want to thank you Steve for posting this interview and facilitating Adrina in sharing her story with me and the others out there that are hurting and hoping on God to bring healing to them too
I’m so glad Adria’s story encourages you, Laura. I will be praying for you. Say hi to Randy and Ellie for me!
