Pastor Steve O’Brien asks, “How can I not fear for the future of my children? Anyone who sees the turmoil of the culture around us may feel anxious about our nation’s current path. It may appear that there is a dark cloud over our future.

The disciples faced that same dark cloud. They had the physical presence of Jesus, God’s son, but he was telling them that he was going away. They were now to follow an unknown, unseen, undiscovered direction…and they were afraid.

They were not promised that the path would always be pleasant, and that news was not encouraging. But Jesus’ words in the midst of it all were peaceful and hopeful.

He said, “Still your troubled hearts. Trust in God and in me.”
